Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SoloBay ("SoloBay", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the SoloBay website and mobile/web application (together, the "Service"). We are based in the United Kingdom, and we act as the data controller for the personal data described here.

Plain-English summary: SoloBay uses your location to show nearby motorbike bays, an account to save your Pro status, and (in the free version) shows ads. We rely on Google (Maps, Street View, Firebase, AdMob) to run the app. We don't sell your personal data.

1. Information we collect

TypeWhat & why
LocationYour device's approximate or precise location, used to show motorbike bays near you and navigate to them. Used only while you use the map; you can turn it off in your device settings (some features then won't work).
Account dataIf you sign in, your email address and a user ID (via Google Firebase Authentication), used to save your settings, subscription/trial status, and any bays you submit.
Subscription statusWhether you have a free trial or Pro subscription. Payments are handled by Apple/Google (and our payments partner); we do not receive or store your card details.
Bay suggestions & photosIf you submit a new parking spot, we store your suggestion and any photo you attach, for our team to review and add to the map. These photos are private to you and our reviewers, they are not shown publicly.
Advertising identifiersIn the free, ad-supported version, an advertising ID and related data used by Google AdMob to show and measure ads (see §4).
Usage & device dataApp interactions, device type, OS, and app version, collected via Google Analytics for Firebase to understand and improve the app, and to keep it secure.

2. How we use your information

Our legal bases (UK GDPR) are: performance of our contract with you (running the app), your consent (location, and personalised ads), and our legitimate interests (security, analytics, improving the app).

3. Third-party services we rely on

SoloBay is built on Google services. Your use of the app involves these providers, each under their own privacy policies:

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Advertising & your choices

The free version shows ads via Google AdMob, including banner ads and optional rewarded video ads you choose to watch. Depending on your consent, ads may be personalised (based on an advertising identifier) or non-personalised.

Where required (in the UK, EEA and Switzerland), we show a consent form before ads load, so you can accept or decline personalised advertising. You can change your choice at any time in the app's settings, and you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings. Subscribing to Pro removes ads entirely.

5. Where your data is stored (international transfers)

Your account data and bay suggestions are stored in Google Firebase. Our database is hosted in the United Kingdom (London region), while uploaded suggestion photos are stored in the United States. Advertising and analytics providers may also process data outside the UK/EEA. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards (such as the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent frameworks).

6. How long we keep it

7. Your rights

Under UK/EU data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@solobay.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Children

SoloBay is intended for riders and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures (including Google's infrastructure, access rules, and encryption in transit) to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here with an updated date, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
