Terms of attendance

Solo Bay Christmas Toy Run 2026. Version 1.0, 30 October 2026.

This is a ride out, not a race, a procession with closed roads, or an escorted convoy. There are no road closures, no marshals in the carriageway and no police escort. You ride in normal traffic, as a normal road user, and you are responsible for your own riding at all times.

By signing up you confirm that

  1. You hold a valid licence for the bike you are riding, and your bike is taxed, insured and has a valid MOT where one is required.
  2. Your bike is roadworthy, including tyres, lights, brakes and chain, and you will check it before you set off.
  3. You will wear an approved helmet and suitable protective clothing.
  4. You are riding at your own risk, and you are responsible for your own insurance cover.
  5. You will obey the Highway Code and all road traffic law for the whole ride. Red lights, speed limits, box junctions and bus lanes all still apply, including when the rider in front of you gets through and you do not.
  6. You will not ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Anyone who appears to be will be asked to leave, and we will not make a scene about it.
  7. You will ride to your own ability and leave your own gap. No stunts, no wheelies, no racing, no riding two abreast in traffic, no aggressive filtering.
  8. You will not block junctions, pavements or crossings to keep the group together. If the group splits, it splits, and we regroup at the destination.
  9. You will follow instructions from the ride leader, the back marker, venue staff, hospital staff and the police, immediately and without argument.
  10. You will keep the noise down near the hospital and in residential streets. Engines off when asked. No revving outside a children's hospital, at any point, for any reason.
  11. In London, you will push your bike in and out of the photo spot with the engine off, as the council require, and you accept that the exact spot may change at short notice.
  12. If you are riding with a pillion, they are your responsibility, and anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian's permission.
  13. Any toy you bring is new, unwrapped and in its original packaging. No button batteries, no magnets, nothing homemade and nothing second-hand. The charities set these rules, not us.
  14. You accept that the ride may be cancelled, shortened or rerouted at short notice for weather, ice, traffic or anything the hospital or council asks for. We will tell you by email and on our social accounts as early as we can.
  15. Solo Bay organises and sponsors the ride. Solo Bay is not responsible for your bike, your conduct, your riding, your belongings, or any loss, damage or injury arising from your choice to take part.

Photography

Photos and video taken on the day may be used by Solo Bay, the charities and the press. Tell us on the form if you would rather not be in them, and tell the photographer on the day.

Your details

We use what you give us only to run this event: to tell you where to be, to put you in the ride day group, and to give the venue a rough head count. We do not sell or share it with anyone else, and everything is deleted by 31 December 2026. Ask us anything at hello@solobay.co.uk.

Money

Solo Bay does not collect or hold cash and there are no collection tins. Donations go straight to the charity through its own JustGiving page.

Signing up

Riders agree to a specific version of these terms, which is why this page carries one. You agreed to the version shown on the form at the time you submitted it, and we keep that version number with your entry.
